Henry Smith's Charity

Detailed annual accounts are prepared and submitted to the Treasurer of Smith's Charity, and record the income and expenditure since receipt of the Gifts in October of the previous year. When the Treasurer has approved the accounts, a bank transfer is made to the Clerk's account on granting the Gift (income) for the year to the following Michaelmas.

Grants from the Charity are made at the discretion of the Trustees to individuals "suffering need, hardship or distress", and applications for financial assistance are most usually now received on behalf of individuals from Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) and Social Services departments.
